[The Beef Chain in Costa Rica] This study aims to characterize and analyze the beef chain in Costa Rica and accordingly identify and recommend lines of action that would optimize its operation and facilitate greater participation, particularly of small actors, in processes different from those of primary production. As a strategy, this would help improve the adoption of technologies as well as livestock productivity and profitability. The study seeks to generate strategic information necessary to establish priorities and implement lines of action directed toward public and private actors responsible for promoting technological change and enhancing the competitiveness of the country's livestock agroindustries. In addition, experience will be gained and analytical instruments developed that can be applied in similar studies elsewhere in the region. 68 p. 21.5 x 27.5 cm.
